Irrigation of vertical gardens

Regular watering

For felt systems, daily watering of the vertical garden is necessary. This is associated with the need to supply water to the system. The irrigation system we propose waters only the upper pockets with plants. Water permeates through the felt and, by gravity, irrigates all the plants in the garden. Various methods of watering the green wall are presented below.

Watering the living wall from the water supply and draining excess water by gravity into the drainage system

Such a solution necessitates the installation of water supply and gravitational drainage to the drainage system. The drainage should be equipped with a trap. This type of watering is recommended when there is a nearby water source and drainage system available.

Watering a vertical garden from the water supply and pressurized drainage of excess water using a pump to the drainage system

The proposed solution also requires bringing water to the vertical garden and establishing a connection to the drainage. It is crucial to install a connection for the pump, allowing the expulsion of excess water under pressure.

Watering the green wall in a closed water loop using a tank and pump

Choosing this solution means only creating a 230V socket to which the controller for the garden watering pump will be connected.

Detailed guidelines on how to make water supplies and drainage connections to the sewer system can be found on the “How to Connect Vertical Gardens” pages in the instructions. More information on this topic is also available on our homepage, where you can select the type of vertical garden that interests you, as well as in the instructions regarding green walls.

Frequency of watering a vertical garden

How often to water a green wall depends on several important factors. These include:

1. Type of plants
2. Amount of light
3. Air humidity
4. Ambient temperature
5. Wall location (indoors or outdoors)

The watering time varies depending on the installation location. To adapt to different conditions and plant types, testing and careful observation are required throughout the wall’s usage. Irrigation schedules can range from a few to several minutes daily, once a day, or less frequently.
