How long does a vertical garden live?

Green walls are durable and can thrive for many years. This depends, among other factors, on proper and periodic maintenance. Without it, plants on the living wall may require replacement after 2/3 years. However, with good care, they can live in good condition for a long time.

Vertical Planter PlantaUp panels can be cleaned and reused for seasonal plantings. The plastic felt is extremely durable and resistant to UV radiation and damage.

Can birds tear apart the felt on the exterior panels of Vertical Planter PlantaUp?

Typically, it’s not a problem, but large outdoor vertical gardens planted with native species may attract wild birds that forage on plants seasonally. Living walls can serve as habitats for birds in urban areas.

Do vertical gardens create an excessive amount of moisture?

Green walls are capable of providing an adequate amount of moisture in their vicinity, especially near the plants themselves. Living walls do not create an excessive amount of moisture.

Does mold appear in a vertical garden?

Water from irrigation is drained through the back of the felt, which dries between watering cycles, effectively preventing the formation of mold.

White deposits may appear in areas with high humidity, low temperature, and poor air circulation. In such cases, adjusting the environmental conditions around the wall is advisable.

How far do the plants from the vertical garden protrude?

Most often, plants protrude a distance ranging from 10 to 70 centimeters from the panels of the green wall. This depends on the species of the planted plants. The system itself is compact, and with air dilation, it takes up 7 centimeters.

Can vegetables be grown in a vertical garden?

Vegetables and herbs can be successfully grown on a green wall. It’s important to ensure they receive adequate lighting, as well as providing them with water and nutrients.

How often should a vertical garden be fertilized?

It’s advisable to apply very small amounts of fertilizer frequently. It’s important to note that excessive fertilization is not beneficial for plants.

When planting new plants, adding slow-release fertilizer pellets is recommended. This allows the plants to feed on it for a period of about 6-12 months. With subsequent regular fertilization, it’s best to wait until the plants visually appear slightly paler.

How much light does a vertical garden need?

Each plant requires a specific amount of light to thrive. Some plants can get burned in direct sunlight. We recommend that the minimum amount of light directed at the green wall should not be less than 800 lux and should not exceed 2000 lux per square meter. This should be determined based on the type of lighting and the species of plants. More information about lighting can be found in the section on illuminating a vertical garden.

Where to buy plants for a vertical garden?

Plants for a green wall can be purchased at a local gardening center or plant nursery.

How to install a vertical garden on a wall?

The Vertical Planter PlantaUp panels are best hung on an aluminum profile. This material will separate the wall from the panels with plants and create space for air circulation. The mounting method depends on the location designated for the green wall. The living wall can also be hung on the top felt and hooks.

Is an architect needed to design a vertical garden?

Architects design gardens that require building permits. Smaller installations, such as a vertical garden hung on hooks or felt, can be installed by anyone, as they are not considered permanent fixtures.

How much does the green wall weigh?

The vertical garden without plantings weighs about 7kg. After planting the panels and watering the plants, the weight ranges around 25kg per square meter.
